Best Day Trips from Marrakech
Ourika, Ouzoud, Essaouira, Ait Ben Haddou or Agafay — which day trip suits which kind of traveller.

Marrakech is a brilliant base. These are the day trips worth the early start.
Ourika Valley and the Atlas Mountains (around 1h30 each way) — river restaurants, a waterfall walk and Berber villages. Best for families and anyone wanting green after the city.
Ouzoud Waterfalls (around 2h30) — 110 metres of falls, wild monkeys and a boat ride into the spray. Best in spring and early summer.
Essaouira (around 2h30) — Atlantic wind, blue fishing boats, grilled sardines and a walled medina. Best when you want cool air and seafood.
Ait Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate (around 3h30) — the Tizi n'Tichka pass, a UNESCO kasbah and film studios. A long day, but the most cinematic.
Agafay desert (around 40 minutes) — the easiest and best for a half day or an evening.
Practical notes: leave by 8am, take cash for lunch, and choose a private vehicle if you are more than three people — the cost per person is often close to a group tour and you set the pace.
